A 2019 study of men who have a habit of sending nude photos to women was able to uncover the psychological source of this problem. In the study, which involved 1,087 men, 48% admitted they had sent a nude photo to a woman in their past.
In the study, published in the Journal of Sex Research, scientists sought to determine the characteristics of the men studied. It became clear that those who sent unwanted nude photos to women were highly narcissistic, but also men with contradictory feelings, exposing hostile sexism.
Narcissists have a sense of over-appreciation for themselves, while others are described as being overly complacent with the feeling that they are superior to humans.
Some of the men who make shocking and outrageous surprises, such as sending unwanted nude photos to women, also admit that their motivation stems from a distorted psychology. 15% said they wanted to scare the person they sent the photo to, while 8% said they intended to create a sense of shame.
Some of the men examined in the study stated that misogyny and control were behind their main motivations. Some say,” I feel a dislike for women and it satisfies me to send a nude photo, “while others say,” I feel control over the person I send a nude photo to."
Although it stems from a psychology, the majority of men who send nude photos have the misconception that their behavior will evoke positive feelings on women. 82% of men who sent photos thought that the
opposite party would “experience sexual excitement”, while 50% thought that women would “make them feel attractive.”
Researchers note that 45% of men send nude photos “with an interactive mindset.” This, in turn, reflects the expectation that what they offer will be rewarded in some way. Many hope that the photo they send will receive a similar response, while others hope to have sex with the woman they are trying to influence or control.
Less than a fifth of the men in the
study said they sent the photos for their own sexual excitement and satisfaction. Ultimately, the researchers note, the main reason men send nude photos is their irrepressible sex drive.
In other words, it would not be wrong to say that men who have self-confidence problems are trying to balance the situation with nude photos…
